SPITALFIELDS City Farm has been hit with a crime spree after the donation box was robbed and the roof to the goat pen shattered in the last two weeks.

Two weeks ago, Farmyard manager Helen Galland arrived at work to find the goat pen roof in pieces.

She believes kids found rocks at the nearby construction site and threw them over the safety fence into the farm to break the plastic overhang.

"It just looked like a bomb went off when I found it," Helen said.

A week later, Helen found the door to the donation box ripped off its hinges on Wednesday morning.

There is no idea how much money could have been inside because they are anonymous donations.

"We emptied out the donation box at the top of the hill after the robbery and there was about £150," Helen said. "The one by the front would've received a lot more traffic so we're guessing there was much more in there."

Police are reviewing CCTV footage of the two crimes and are going to collect fingerprints from the donation box. Helen surmises that neither crime is linked, but probably drug-related.

Thankfully, none of the animals were harmed.

"There's just no respect," Helen said. "We're a community farm. We're a charity.
