MOTORISTS are being warned to think bike to avoid collisions with motor bikes.
Last year two motor cyclists were killed on the roads of Tower Hamlets with 37 other serious injuries and 161 suffering slight injuries.
Across London 848 motor cyclists were killed on the capital's roads.
Researchers believe that an optical effect caused by the way the brain assesses approaching objects means drivers underestimate the time that small vehicles like motorbikes and scooters take to reach them.
This can cause collisions if they pull out in front of approaching bikes.
Transport for London has launched a Bike Safe campaign with a hard hitting TV advert to urge drivers to 'give motorists a second thought' especially when making right turns.
Most accidents involving motor bikes happen during the morning and evening rush hours.
