Thirty-five firefighters and officers from the London Fire Brigade tackled a blaze at a flat on the High Street in Stratford.
Six fire engines were sent to the fire yesterday, which damaged a small part of the fifth floor flat.
The Brigade was called at 2.41pm and the fire was under control by 3.27pm. Fire crews from Bow, Stratford, Whitechapel, Homerton and Leytonstone fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
