Thousands turn out for first market of the summer at Stepney City Farm

PUBLISHED: 08:00 22 May 2013

More than 2,000 people turned out for the first market of the summer at Stepney City Farm this weekend.

Guests including Baroness of Bow Oona King sampled the delights on offer from stallholders and traders at the farm on Saturday.

Organiser Chris Elder said: “I have been very pleasantly surprised.

“There have been people from all areas of the community here. I hope this can grow into local people setting up businesses through stalls for themselves.”

The market will return to the farm, in Stepney Way, on a weekly basis every Saturday for the rest of the summer.

The farm’s café also received a boost after being featured in the London’s best coffee app.
