FOUR fire engines and around twenty firefighters tackled a fire in a block of flats in Bethnal Green today.
Parts of the first and second floors, as well as the roof, of the three storey building on the corner of Brady Street and Three Colts Lane were damaged by the fire which took firefighters two hours to put out.
Two people escaped from the building before firefighters arrived on the scene and were taken to hospital by ambulance.
Another person also went to hospital and was treated for smoke inhalation.

The Brigade was called around 10.50am and the fire was under control by 12.50pm. Firefighters from Kingsland, Bow, Whitechapel and Shoreditch fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
