Time to turn clock back at St Katharine’s next to Tower of London for tea dance on quays

London’s iconic St Katharine Docks by Tower Bridge turn the clocks back today—not to Winter Time, but to the 1920s, 30s, 40s and 50s.

The historic Georgian docks, just a mile or so west of the Greenwich Meridian, plays host to the renowned Ragroof Players travelling tea dance troupe for its famous tea dance from 12 noon to get the public on their feet with authentic vintage music, glamorous costumes and fab dance displays.

Everyone from beginners to advanced dancers is being urged to join in and trip the light fantastic.

Tea tastings are 12 to 4pm, tea and cakes served 12-8pm and dance lessons for the adventurous 12-2pm and 6-8pm.

The docks by the Tower of London, first opened in 1828, now turned into London’s only yachting marina, have strong links with the historic tea industry when it was at the centre of Britain’s growing empire and global commercial trade, handling tea cargoes from all over the world.

But they don’t usually make a song and dance about it.
