Descendents of the man who designed a collapsible lifeboat for the Titanic are giving a centenary talk for the Whitechapel Society in London’s East End tonight (Sat).
Andy and Sue Parlour tell the story of Joshua Barton who designed and presented the lifeboat to the White Star Line prior to Titanic’s sinking in 1912. They are also presenting the actual scale model of the lifeboat.
Historian George Fleming gives a presentation on the many Titanic conspiracy theories—followed by a short film by Lindsay Siviter investigating a myth that an ancient Egyptian mummy was the cause of the sinking!
Tonight’s Titanic presentation is at the Aldgate Exchange pub in Whitechapel High Street at 7.30pm, open to the public at 5.
