A TODLERS' playgroup in London's deprived East End has scooped a top prize at a national childcare awards ceremony.

TheTower Hamlets Opportunity playgroup, which caters for 40 children at the 'Around Poplar' children's centre in Limehouse, picked up the Inclusive Practice accolade in the Nursery World awards at London's Hurlingham Club, celebrating the work of the country's very best childcare providers.

Many of the toddlers at the playgroup have additional needs such as physical disabilities or special educational needs. One of its main aims is supporting the family as a whole, which involves working with the toddlers' parents and siblings in what can be a very difficult time.
