“I believe the key to the success has been bringing Wayne Bridge in to the squad. We have struggled all season for a consistent solid left back and debut aside he has been impressive.”

There’s no doubt we rode our luck at times and on another day we could have let in three of four, but a point at Tottenham is an excellent result.

Saturday’s game produced the most shots in Premier League history without a goal, which shows how exciting the game was.

Don’t forget Carlton Cole missed a couple of chances so it would be unfair to say it was all one way traffic.

It was another clean sheet and another superb performance from the back four, who have been excellent of late.

I believe the key to the success has been bringing Wayne Bridge in to the squad. We have struggled all season for a consistent solid left back and debut aside he has been impressive.

He was excellent against Spurs on Saturday and is one of the best in his position in the country. He gives us balance.

Next to him Matthew Upson is naturally left footed and has upped his game and whether it be Manuel da Costa or James Tomkins alongside the skipper they both have performed well, while Lars Jacobsen is a solid right back.

Robert Green was another who was superb at the weekend and his form has been extremely impressive of late.

A goalkeeper is obviously a completely different position to any other on the football pitch, but just like all others, confidence is a big factor in how a keeper performs.

You can see by the way he is playing that Rob is extremely confident at the moment.

He is in full command of his area, coming and claiming crosses and not only does that help him, it gives those in front of him great belief and confidence.

You could see after what happened in the summer at the World Cup his confidence was not there, but now it is and it is certainly rubbing off on those in front of him.

Another who sets a positive example is Scott Parker, who played against Spurs on Saturday despite his father passing away on Friday night after a long illness.

It is a similar situation Jack Collison went through before the League Cup game against Millwall last year and you can have nothing but admiration for both of them.

Everyone deals with grief differently. Some can’t deal with it and can’t play and of course there is nothing wrong with that, while others play to help them deal with their loss.

Parker and Green will both be in the England squad for the game against Wales at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff this Saturday.

In my mind there is no better holding midfielder in the country at the moment and after he played so well in the recent friendly I hope he starts the game.

Green meanwhile is probably number two behind Joe Hart, who I believe is probably our best goalkeeper. He has made a few mistakes of late but I can’t see England boss Fabio Capello making the change.
