The Fulham match had a testimonial feel to it on Sunday and in the end they probably did enough to earn the victory.

There was not enough tempo to West Ham's game and we pass the ball too slowly at the moment.

The Hammers almost have a continental style of play going on at the minute, which would be fine if we were winning games comfortably, but unfortunately this is not the case.

The defeat was a disappointing end to our away season and we still have the fact we have not won on the road since the opening day hanging over our heads for the next campaign.

I feel sorry for the fans because they were magnificent on Sunday.

They created a superb atmosphere for the players and deserved a bit more than what they got out of the day.

To be fair to the players it has been a long, frustrating, stressful season so it was going to be hard to be completely motivated for the game.

It is disappointing to concede three goals of course and the defence would come under fire for it, but I don't think we let ourselves down defensively and performed okay.

If you analyse the goals, the first was a good finish, the second took a horrible deflection off Carlton Cole, while the third was from an individual error from Jonathan Spector, so it was not that polished, but it wasn't that bad either.

Spector will and does take a lot of stick, but he deserves a lot of credit, because he is not left footed and not a natural left back and is doing West Ham a favour by playing there.

I don't know what has happened to Herita Ilunga this season, because he played so well last year and it is a position which has to be strengthened in the summer.

There were no real individual performances of note on Sunday, but Scott Parker and Mark Noble worked hard out there.

I would rather see Noble play in the middle rather than the left, which he did on Sunday, because I feel he gets a lot more of the ball there and can therefore be more creative.

We have struggled to find someone to play left midfield for some time and the last exceptional player we had in that position I say would be Matthew Etherinton and he had left two years ago.

Mark Noble and Junior Stanislas have filled in there of late, but it is a hard position to fill and there are not too many outstanding talents who can play there, with the top drawer left midfielders costing a lot of money.

IT was great to see Carlton Cole returning to the score sheet, it has been a while and he has struggled a bit since returning from his knee injury.

It has caused him a problem all campaign but he has had a good season and before the injury problems was in the England squad.

There is not much time before Capello choses his squad for South Africa and Cole's goal is a gentle reminder to the England boss.

He has a good chance of going to the World Cup, but he is competing against very good players and it a tough decision that the coach will have to make.

Obviously Wayne Rooney is a certainty while Jermain Defoe will probably also go. It leaves two from Darren Bent, Carlton, Peter Crouch and Emile Heskey and they all offer you something different and it is up to Fabio to work out who offers the most for England.

It is vital that West Ham recover for the Manchester City game and play at 100 per cent.

The Hammers need to end the season on a high and give the fans something to look forward to for next season.

City are probably going to have to win the game to qualify for the Champions League next season so they will be up for the game and make sure we compete in all areas of the park.

A victory could send us up three places so there is professional pride for the players in that regard, while it will also mean more prize money going into the club.

It's hard to talk about the game without mentioning Carlos Tevez in some way.

He left on a high point by helping West Ham stay up that season and he is well loved by the fans at Upton park.

No-one wanted him to leave the club because he played so well towards the end of the season and the goals he scored were absolutely key in the Hammers' survival.

The effort he puts in appeals to fans and that coupled with the goals he scored made him a hero down here.

He also had a great time in the East End and always talks positively when he discusses his time at the club.

When he did go he left in a dignified manner and a lot of people remember that.

He has had a tremendous goalscoring season for City and he will be desperate to fire them in to the Champions League.

We cannot expect any favours from him and hopefully he will get none from us.

Whether they are fighting it out with Tottenham for that last Champions League place or not.
