Chef Jeff Galvin has won a prestigious award

A Spitalfields chef has been awarded the prestigious Master of Culinary Arts.

Jeff Galvin, of Galvin La Chapelle restaurant, was presented with the award during an event at Claridges.

The awards, run by the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, are held every four years and is acknowledged as the toughest in the culinary industry.

The 43-year-old was among five chefs who passed a number of challenges, testing their aptitude at a variety of skills including pastry and wine.

Jeff, who has been cooking for 30 years, said: “I am extremely honoured to have been awarded the MCA; it’s truly an achievement of a lifetime.”
