More than 100 budding athletes from Tower Hamlets are to benefit from a cash pot aimed at promoting an Olympic legacy.

A £750,000 award has been announced by charity GLL Sport Foundation in a bid to bring through developing talent across a number of local authorities.

The funding will go towards helping Tower Hamlets’ young athletes like 14-year-old Lotte Wubben-Moy, who said: “My dream is to play for the England women’s football team.

“The funding award helps with subscription fees, footwear and travel costs.”

Athletes such as Lotte will be eligible for grants of up to £1,250 to help meet the costs associated with reaching the elite in sport.

A total of 114 applicants from Tower Hamlets successfully secured grants through the scheme.
