An East End housing association helped spruce up the neighbourhood by giving a makeover to a number of areas on their estates.

Staff at Tower Hamlets Community Housing (THCH) took time away from the office to take part in the ‘Sowing the Seeds Project’, planting rose bushes, hundreds of spring bulbs planters as well as refurbishing the pergola at the Cable Street courtyard garden.

The project, which was done on a number of days in November, received sponsorship from the Mayor of London Boris Johnson to help brighten up the estates in Spitalfields, Bethnal Green and Shadwell.

Sirajul Islam, who led the Shadwell project, said: “We are really proud of our achievements and this was a great team initiative, everyone, including our contractors wanted to contribute and give something back to the community.”

Mina Rahman, who led the Spitalfields project, added: “I had a wonderful, enthusiastic and motivated team and it was great working with everyone.”
