Applications are open for Tower Hamlets residents to get training in the film industry.
Every year, ZOOM offers residents who are unemployed or on a low wage a year-long training scheme in film and TV.
Previous trainees have gone on to work in Star Wars, Mission Impossible, and Idris Elba’s directing debut, Yardie.
The programme includes six weeks of filmmaking training, which includes producing a short film, masterclasses, networking sessions and work experience. The 16 trainees are given an industry mentor to give them advice.
ZOOM supports trainees who want to become runners, animators, camera operators, researchers, screenwriters, directors, set designers and production assistants.
It’s funded by Tower Hamlets Mainstream Grants, with support from Four Corners, a centre for film and photography, and travel and childcare costs included.
Applications are open for anyone aged 18 and over from Tower Hamlets on a low wage or unemployed.
