The First Citizen of London’s East End joined youngsters for basketball when Tower Hamlets Community Housing staged its annual Eid Party.

Tower Hamlets council chairman Rajib Ahmed looked distinctive in his official Chain of Office he wore when he took to the playing field at Bethnal Green’s Minerva community centre on Saturday.

Hundreds of the housing association’s residents took part in the afternoon of activities which also featured information stalls including Cancer Awareness, recycling, money advice, healthy eating and the Shadow Youth Alliance.

But the kids had more important matters to deal with—like basketball with the First Citizen, the bouncy castle, face painting and henna painting—and smoothie-bikes where peddle power was used to blend your own fruit smoothie.

The party also had Bollywood dancers with an impromptu dance class teaching the kids some new moves.
