THE East End is in line for a multi-million injection from a city development.
Tower Hamlets Council has been given �8.6 million to spend on the Spitalfields area from the developers of Bishops Square.
It is one of the largest single payments from a developer received by a council and has to be spent on the area affected by the development.
Open spaces at Boundary Gardens (Arnold Circus), Christchurch Gardens, and Chicksand, Hanbury Street and Holland Estate are set to be refurbished, with work due to start this autumn.
Money will also be used to create the Brick Lane Cultural Trail. Work will begin on the first phase of the trail at the end of this month. It includes the construction of a steel tower landmark, aimed at drawing people into the area.
Other proposed work will depend on planning permission.
