Housing staff have scooped two regional community awards for their ‘tenant involvement’ projects helping to run estates in London’s East End.

Tower Hamlets Homes won recognition from the Tenant Participation Advisory Service which champions tenant involvement.

It took two awards and had highly commended for a third in the Southern region heats and now goes forward to national finals later this year.

One award was for a multi-faith project in which non-Muslims were asked to arrange Eid celebrations and Muslim groups to organise Christmas parties, aimed at encouraging interfaith understanding.

The other was for a language project which involved audio translations on its website and staff appearing on the NTV Bengali channel with welfare information in Bengali.
