At an awards ceremony for the UK’s greenest social housing organisations, one of the borough’s social landlords came away with an award at the lavish event.

Poplar HARCA, who manage homes in Tower Hamlets, won the social housing provider of the year award, at an event hosted by TV and radio personality Josie Long, at Lancaster Hotel on October 18.

The event, which was attended by over 600 people, was organised by Inside Housing magazine and its in-house publication Sustainable Housing.

Paul Augarde, HARCA’s head of creativity and innovation, said: “Poplar HARCA is committed to approaching the agenda as broadly as possible, shaping our own business as well as providing opportunities and support for local residents, across all parts of the sustainability spectrum.”

Jess McCabe, Sustainable Housing editor, said: “Social landlords are still at the forefront of making sure that housing is sustainable.”
