A young musician from Tower Hamlets is battling to be crowned the capital’s best busker.

Rose Ash will perform at the grand final of Gigs, the Mayor of London’s annual busking competition, in the Atrium of Westfield London on September 3.

She will have to beat five other competitors in the songwriting award.

Judges include MTV music programmer Adam Read and legendary songwriter Guy Fletcher, who will mark each song on musicality, lyrics and “connection”.

Prizes include a London Underground busking license and studio time, with one act named the 2017 Gigs Champion.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said: “London is a global capital of culture and we have produced some of the world’s greatest musicians.

“Many of them start out by busking and our Gigs competition gives them a fantastic opportunity to showcase their work.”
