Victoria Park is being planted with trees from countries around the world to provide a reminder of the diverse nations which descended on East London for the Olympics.
Trees from everywhere from South East Asia to South America are being planted in the park during National Tree Week, which started on Saturday and finishes this weekend.
Species coming to the park include the unique Monkey Puzzle and exotic Magnolias.
In total 150 trees are expected to be planted in the streets of Tower Hamlets during the week, ranging from lime trees to elms.
Mayor of Tower Hamlets Lutfur Rahman said: “The whole borough will also benefit from thousands of trees being planted to make Tower Hamlets a better place to live.”
