Hundreds of new litter bins are to be placed on the streets of Tower Hamlets.
Over the coming months 358 bins will be added to the current crop of 1,000 in a drive to clean up the borough in time for next year’s Olympics.
They will be placed in busy spots such as shopping areas, transport hubs and outside schools.
Deputy Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Cllr Ohid Ahmed, said: “We’re making sure that residents and visitors have no excuse to drop their litter on the street.”
The new bins, funded by environmental services group Veolia, include cigarette stub plates.
