Police Borough Commander Mark Simmons is on the move after a four-year stint as the top cop in Tower Hamlets.

The Ch Sup has steered the force through some tough times, joining just months after the 9/11 attacks in New York, and overseeing operations over last July's London bombings.

Ch Sup Simmons is expected to be moving to head up the Territorial Policing division at New Scotland Yard, responsible for London-wide support services for the boroughs.

The move was shown on a Met internal website this week, but a successor to step into his boots has yet to be announced.
