Young people had the opportunity to work in positions of power as part of the National Takeover Day 2013.
The Children’s Commissioner’s National Takeover Day, in its seventh year, allowed 21 youngsters aged 13-19 the chance to work alongside adults for a day and be involved in the decision making.
Organised by Tower Hamlets Council, Mile End Children Centre, in Belton Way and the police, the day is aimed at allowing young people to experience the world of work.
A range of council services including youth services, community safety, community languages and workforce development teams took part in the day.
Ibrahim Begh, who shadowed the Mayor of Tower Hamlets Lutfur Rahman, said: “I witnessed first-hand what it feels like to work in the council.
