Tower Hamlets youth team manager Darrell Queeley praised his side’s efforts as they crashed out of the FA Youth Cup to Leyton Orient.

The Mile End-based club suffered a 3-0 defeat in their second qualifying round match and the manager admits it’s always disappointing to lose.

Goals from Charles Clayden, substitute Eric Lopes and Ruel Sotiriou guided the O’s to a comforable victory.

“In the end its disappointing because first-half I thought we were well in the game, I thought we had all the chances, they had one shot on target in the first half and they took it.

“I think when we settled down it took them a little bit of time to adjust to the way we were playing and to how decent we actually were.

“At half-time they obviously managed to regroup, have a word with the gaffer and he’s obviously come up with a genius plan of how to beat us and how to secure their passage into the next round.”

The boss admits it was always going to be a tough task going up against a club of Orient’s stature and the likes of hot prospect Sam Dalby who has made two appearances in the National League this season.

“I think we have to put into perspective that it’s Leyton Orient and they’ve got guys who have played league football.

“When you put that into perspective, none of our boys were out rawed and they all stood up to the challenge and were counted.

“I’m proud of them, we beat two good teams in previous rounds, got here and I think second half they just had a little bit too much for us.

Queeley believes many of his squad members are breaking into the first team and could find themselves getting more and more opportunities.

“A lot of the players are getting shouts from AJ and Ade and are doing really well.

“It’s a very strong team and I know there were a lot people in the crowd looking and there has been interest before this game for the players.

“If every single one of them went I would be pleased because at the end of the day as a coach I’ve always said my trophies are helping players to go on and be successful.”
