TOP tourist destination the Tower of London has helped earn the country �1 billion in revenue from overseas tourists last year according to a VisitBritain survey.
The Tower is the sixth most popular museum and gallery on the tourist trail and saw an increase of 11 per cent on its visitors last year as 2,389,548 people headed there to see the Crown Jewels and the site of many bloody executions in the venue's past.

Sandie Dawe, the chief executive of VisitBritain said: "Tourism is the golden thread running through the cultural sector, delivering the economic benefits of our world class culture and ensuring that these great works and museums continue to be appreciated.
