AN AUDIO history is being created about East London's famous Victoria Park.
Londoners are being asked to come forward and share their memories of 'Vicky Park' for an online project by Tower Hamlets council to be downloaded so the website visitor can 'walk around the park and explore its past'.
The council wants to interview people who remember the park in years past.
SPLASHING
memories will be added to contributions from writers and historians.
These memories might include splashing around paddling lake (pictured) or the outdoor Art Deco swimming lido that one stood along Grove Road, or seeing German prisoners of war housed there during the Second World War.
It is part of the local authority's �5 million 'match funding' bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund to restore and modernize Vicky Park, London's first public open space created in the 1840s after a petition to Queen Victoria with 30,000 names.
