Two women who set up a Town Team, inspired by TV retail guru Mary Portas, will be holding a meeting on Thursday to set out plans for how to revive’s Bow’s Roman Road.

Undeterred by recently losing out on government funding, after failing in their bid to become Portas Pilots, a scheme aimed at rejuvenating Britain’s high streets, Paula Hirst and Lorna Hughes are holding a second Town Team meeting.

The pair are inviting traders, businesses and residents to come along to the Cafe at St Paul’s Church on St Stephen’s Road, at 7pm, to share their views on how to improve Roman Road. Following their fist meeting in June the pair began setting up working groups among volunteers to focus on specific areas of trying to improve Roman Road. The pair are now looking for more ideas on how to move forward and supporting council plans.

A joint bid by the NHS and Tower Hamlets Council was successful in securing 100,000 in funding to set up a Portas Pilot for Chrisp Street, Watney Market, and Roman Road.
