Toyhouse Libraries in Tower Hamlets is one of six winners of a community funding grant.
Since 2015, Lendlease and LCR (London and Continental Railways) have been awarding grants to local community projects through the International Quarter London Community Fund.
This year they awarded £25,000 to six projects which focus on strengthening cohesion between communities – and Toyhouse Libraries, which offers play sessions for parents and children, was given £4,105.
The charity will use the money to host community activities for parents, carers and children, including a ‘walkntalk’ group, designed to improve knowledge of the local area. It’ll also be running cross-cultural cooking sessions, and the funding will go towards ingredients and literature.
Since it was set up, the fund’s distributed £50,000 to 17 organisations across Stratford and New Town, West Ham, Forest Gate, Hackney Wick and Leyton. Organisations can apply for grants of up to £5,000 if they’re based less than 1.5 miles away from the IQL site in Stratford.
