Young gardeners helped to plant trees which will hopefully flourish as part of a plan to brighten up an Isle of Dogs estate.

Residents on the Manchester Road estate joined forces with green charity Trees for Cities to help put in more plants around a signposted nature trail which aims to encourage biodiversity and help people learn more about the wildlife living around them.

The three year planting scheme has gone ahead with the support of Eastend Homes, grant making body IDCF and the London Tree and Woodland Grant Scheme.

Children and grown ups marked the end of the International Year of Biodiversity by planting species which will also remove pollutants from the air and make a difference to the estate as they grow.
