THE London Underground was reported this morning to be “back to normal” after the 48-hour strike by the RMT rail union which hit the Tube from Wednesday evening.
Transport bosses confirmed all lines on the network “are operating and running a good service” following the end of the walk out.
They managed to operate a partial service during the dispute, with many lines running shuttle runs on parts of the system, although most of the central London area around the City and West End was at a total standstill, including the key Circle Line connecting most of London’s main-line National Rail terminals and the Hammersmith & City from Whitechapel.
The Jubilee through Canary Wharf and the Northern were running “near normal” services, along with additional measures including extra buses on key routes.
Both London Underground and RMT have now issued statements saying they hope to return to Acas for talks over the dispute involving pay and disciplinary matters.
