HIGH profile supporters of East End mayoral hopeful Oona King have donated £14,000 to her campaign to win the Labour party selection to run for London Mayor.

Ms King who lives in Mile End has been given £2,000 by television historian Simon Schama, along with £10,000 from media entrepreneur Waheed Ali and a further £2,000 from journalist Peter Kellner and political commentator according to the latest figures published by the Electoral Commission.

The former MP for Bethnal Green and Bow was unseated by George Galloway at the General Election in 2005 and has since worked in government and is currently head of diversity at broadcaster Channel 4.

Poplar and Limehouse MP Jim Fitzpatrick is her campaign manager.
