TV researchers call out to people from 1953 Morpeth Street party

PUBLISHED: 14:57 30 April 2012

Ahead of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, it’s more important than ever to celebrate and make memories - and producers of a television documentary are looking to delve into the past to uncover the faces of a Coronation street party.

Researchers are calling on residents who live or have lived on Morpeth Street, Bethnal Green, in 1953 to come forward and share their stories.

Lucy Weston, a researcher from Love Productions, has a number of images of residents who attended the street party and aims to bring to life the spirit of Britain in the early 50’s and add their memories of everyday life during the decade.

Miss Weston said: “With residents help we’ll dig deep into the past to discover and experience what home, family and community life were really like at that moment in history.

“It will form the basis of a social history documentary which will explore the changing face of Britain since Queen Elizabeth ascended to the throne.”
