Firearms are reported to have been found by armed police who stopped a car in east London on the A12 Blackwall Tunnel Approach road last night.
Two guns were said to have been recovered by officers from the Met’s Specialist Firearms Command who pulled the vehicle up on the elevated dual carriageway between Old Ford and Hackney Wick.
The intelligence-led operation was carried out by detectives from the Trident and Area Crime Command who reported finding the weapons.
Two men in the car, one aged 26 and the other 21, have been arrested, Scotland Yard confirmed this-morning.
Both men are being held “on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent to endanger life”.
They have been taken into custody to a south London police station while investigations by the Met’s Trident Command continue.
