TWO people had a lucky escape on New Year's eve when the car they were travelling in fell into the freezing water of the River Thames.
They had managed to get out of the car before the Tower Lifeboat Crew arrived on the scene, by a slip road to the 02, after midnight to find the car submerged in the water with its lights still on.
A spokeswoman for crew said the temperature of the water was freezing and could have become life threatening after only a couple of minutes in the water.
The incident is now under investigation by Police.
