London Underground services have been badly affected on the on the Central Line today after an accident when a passenger fell onto the track at Mile End station.
All services were suspended for an hour in east London between Liverpool Street and Leytonstone while a rescue got under way.
Two ambulance crews and the London air-ambulance team were called to the scene. The trapped passenger was taken to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel with severe head and leg injuries. Police are looking into how the accident happened.
Central Line services resumed 12.45pm, but delays continued into the afternoon.
