A MAN extradited from the United States was due in court today in connection with a murder in East London more than eight years ago.
It follows the reopening of a cold case’ murder investigation of 36-year-old Shaun Fray who died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Three men were seen entering his house in Lonsdale Avenue, East Ham, at 7.30pm on October 16, 2001.
Mr Fray’s pregnant wife was in the premises at the time, but was uninjured. The three suspects ran off after the killing.
Police were unable to charge anyone with Mr Fray’s murder.
A review of the case was opened in 2007, which led to 38-years-old Merrick Brown being sought for questioning.
He was traced to Florida and was subsequently extradited back to Britain, where he was arrested on his arrival on Saturday (March 14).
Brown was charged with murder and was due before magistrates at Uxbridge in West London today.
