PLANS for the future of East London's famous Victoria Park go on show to the public tomorrow while kids get a Saturday fun day into the bargain.
The exhibition is being staged in the park close to the entrance in Grove Road, Bethnal Green, from 10am until 6pm, while children can have free face painting and donkey rides.
The proposals are based on a summer survey of public opinion when Tower Hamlets council collected views from 1,000 people in August and September with surveys and consultation meetings.
Victoria Park, which opened in the 1840s after Queen Victoria received a petition from 30,000 Londoners, is being revamped in time for the 2012 Olympics a mile away.
Tower Hamlets is putting �6 million into the kitty and is applying for 'match' funding from the Lottery and Heritage Lottery funds which, if successful, would mean �12m for the single biggest investment in Vicky Park's history. A Masterplan is being submitted to the Lottery funds in December.
