The fun is just starting this-morning at east London’s Victoria Park for a family day out.

The annual festival is the big event in the community calendar starting 11am and running till 4pm.

Fairground rides, live music, arts and crafts and activities for children are being organised by Tower Hamlets Council’s arts and events team.

“This is a ‘Vicky Park’ institution,” a beaming town hall spokesman said. “It’s our great free flagship event for the community and no need to book—just stroll up with the family.”

The Victoria Park Day festival at the top end of Grove Road, between Bethnal Green and South Hackney, also has a pop-up beach with donkey rides and giant inflatables.
