Visitors to Victoria Park will be able to enjoy learning about its fascinating history by listening to an audio trail as they wander around the grounds.
The Memoryscape Trail, which was launched by Tower Hamlets Council last week, includes memories from park users, including elderly residents who remember growing vegetables in the park during World War Two.
Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman, officially unveiled Memoryscape last week and was joined by the voices behind the recordings, residents and the Friends of Victoria Park.
He said: “I am pleased to be launching this innovative scheme which will allow visitors to share memories of the park with other users and delve into the fascinating history of the people’s park.”
The trail, which begins by the Pavilion Caf� just inside Crown Gate West, was designed by University of East London history lecturer Toby Butler and composer Lewis Gibson.
To download the trail, visit www.towerhamlets.gov.uk/parks and click on Victoria Park, or visit the Hub building in the eastern side of the park and pick up an MP3 player with the trail pre-loaded.
