A group of volunteers who look after the homeless in the East End has received a funding boost in time for Christmas.
The Tower Hamlets Street Pastors, made up of representatives from churches across East London, have been given an extra 4,500 of funding from insurance company Engage Mutual.
The charity says it will use the money to equip volunteers with supplies such as hats and gloves to help them stay warm during the winter months.
Volunteer Father Kevin Scully, who is rector of St Matthews Church in Bethnal Green, described the cash boost as “invaluable” in allowing the group to purchase more supplies for those who are vulnerable this Christmas.
