TWO guided walks are planned by the Museum of London Docklands through Poplar with a chance to learn more about East End heritage.
Brian Grover takes visitors along Poplar High Street next Wednesday when he describes how life in the area has changed over the decades, with tales of colourful goings-on at the Queen’s Theatre music hall.
His second walk on September 13 looks at new Poplar’ which took shape after the East End took a pasting in the Blitz. It takes in the huge Lansbury estate which rose out of the war damage and attracted visitors from the 1951 Festival of Britain to view its radical architecture. Places at 6.50 can be booked on 020-7001 9844.
