AN EAST End youth and community centre reopened today after a £100,000 makeover.

Wapping's Youth and Community Centre in Tench Street which is run by the Community Team at nearby Bishop Challoner school, opened its doors to young people in the area.

The refurbished centre, which was funded through a grant from the Government's Youth Opportunity Fund, is also offering daytime and weekend facilities to the over 50s.

Parliamentary candidate for Poplar and Limehouse Jim Fitzpatrick opened the centre.
