Fire crews tackled a blaze in a warehouse for three hours on the banks of the Lea River in east London today.
Palls of smoke billowed across the river from a pile of burning tyres at the disused two-storey building at Leven Road in Poplar, near the A12 Blackwall Tunnel Approach.
Emergency crews called at 11.40am from Poplar and Silvertown fire-stations brought the blaze under control, thought to have been caused by embers from piles of rubbish being burned. No-one was injured.
