Dear Editor,

I REPORTED a 'UFO' to the Ministry of Defence 29 years ago when I was a student nurse at a local hospital in Leicestershire.

The object appeared to hover above a hedge, glowing red. A white hot plume came from one end of the object and I could hear a droning noise (See Spy-in-sky drones for 2012 Olympics spark 'police state' fear, also letter from Prof Noel Sharkley of Sheffield University, Advertiser website, January 10, 2008).

To this day I remain puzzled because the object was above me, quite low in the sky, and cannot remember seeing it move from above the hedge line.

I got a real close look as it passed over me, clearly triangle shape with lights at each point, a raised area from the tip to the middle of the other end, with a raised disc shape in the middle.

Then whoosh! It was away faster than any thing I had ever seen.

There was no noise as the craft moved off at speed.

The MoD came to see me and asked me to draw pictures and recount my story, then asked not to share this information with anyone. There had been other sightings across Leicester that same evening.

For 29 years I have glanced up into the sky now and again.

Then suddenly my son announced he had seen a spaceship over our home. What he meant was a ball of bright, white light that seemed to come close and low down and then move off at an angle of 90 degrees.

My daughter also called me to her bedroom to see this ball of light.

I guess my curiosity has been reignited. I was standing at the kitchen window on Sunday (July 13), with a clear blue sky, watching a small, white fluffy cloud float closer when suddenly I was shocked when, from out of the cloud, a triangular craft climbed upward at about 60 degrees, sandy, browny in colour.

I realise later there had been an air show at Farnborough and believe it may have been one of the Reaper drones (suggested for 2012 Olympics crowd control). At least I am hoping it was.

I am sure the triangular craft are flown by top secret agencies working on Government projects.

What I would like to find out is if my 1978 sighting was one of these projects. I believe there were Lockheed projects at that time regarding the Stealth and Delta wing craft.

On the other hand, my mind remains open to the idea of visitors from other galaxies.

EDITOR: Don't panic! There's no invasion of Little Green Men. The UFOs are probably just experimental drones, or spies-in-the-skies.

The East London Advertiser reported on January 17:

ROBOT drones that may be used by the RAF for surveillance and intelligence-gathering during the 2012 Olympics has led to fears of a 'mini police state' in East London while the Games are on.

The drones, with infra-red sensors and electronic eavesdropping equipment, give a bird's eye view of anyone on the ground below.

The proposal has raised feared on the London Assembly that the Government is planning to turn the capital into a 'mini police state' during the two weeks.

Assembly Member Jenny Jones said: "These proposals are completely out of proportion.

"Such a measure would make people feel criminalised purely for attending a sports event."

She is urging the Government not to go 'over the top' with spy-in-the-sky security.

It is the first time unmanned Reaper drones would be allowed to fly over London.
