A woman police officer too drunk to go on duty in London’s East End has been issued with a final written warning for misconduct.
Pc Erika Vaitkute, stationed in the Met’s Tower Hamlets division, faced allegations that her conduct “amounted to a breach professional behaviour standards” at a Met Police conduct hearing yesterday.
The allegations detailed two separate occasions in May and August in 2015 when she turned up for work “with excess alcohol in her system” and was unable to perform her duties, Scotland Yard confirmed today.
It was also claimed that she gave a dishonest account about her conduct.
Pc Vaitkute admitted breaching the standard of ‘fitness for duty’ as gross misconduct—but denied breaching ‘honesty and integrity’.
The panel considered her plea and character evidence, but found the allegations proven as ‘gross misconduct’. She has been issued with a final written warning.
