WORK has finished on a new crossing at an accident blackspot in Mile End.
Transport for London has put in a ‘Puffin’ crossing designed to keep motorists stopped on a red light until all pedestrians have crossed the road outside Mile End station.
The three westbound lanes directly outside the station have also been reduced to two and the central reserve has been widened.
Other work includes extending the crossing outside the station to giving pedestrians a better view of approaching traffic.
The guardrail on the pavement and central reservation has also been removed.
