SPITALFIELDS Market marked the launch of the Christmas shopping season with the official switch-on of its festive Christmas lights by X Factor star Olly Murs last night.
The singer was also accompanied by current X Factor contestant John Adeleye and Britain’s Got Talent finalist Faryl Smith to launch Christian Aid’s Big Christmas Sing at the Commercial Street market.
During the run up to Christmas, Spitalfields will be hosting events and seasonal promotions to help stressed shoppers find what they are looking for, including late night shopping until 7.30pm on Wednesdays and Fridays in December and a seasonal food court selling fresh produce, pastries, delicatessen and sweet and savoury treats from November 29-December 15.
On Friday, December 10 there will be fashion shows on the market’s catwalk along side the regular fashion market. Designers, traders and retailers will showcase their latest ranges, including hair styling and accessories.
