Young people who look after family members or friends are to be given extra support as the Young Carers Project relaunches next week.
There are around 1,200 people under the age of 18 in Tower Hamlets who care for vulnerable loved ones, and the borough’s council is to begin offering services such as key workers for those who are faced with this challenge.
Other support will include short break sessions, which will run on a weekly basis, allowing carers to get together to share experiences and get involved in a variety of workshops and activities.
Anyone between the ages of 8 and 18 within the borough who has caring responsibilities is eligible for the scheme, which is to launch at the Urban Adventure Base in Mile End Park between 5.30 and 7.30pm on Tuesday October 30.
