A TEENAGER appears in court this morning (Monday) charged with knifing 17-year-old Michael Wright to death in the street in East London.

Michael died at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel shortly after being found by a passer-by in Leytonstone Road, opposite Maryland station in Stratford, with stab wounds at 11.30pm on Thursday.

A youth of 16 arrested at the weekend appears in custody at Stratford youth court today, charged with Michael’s murder.

Police are still appealing for anyone who was in Leytonstone Road last Thursday evening who may have seen Michael arguing with other young black men near the station and Ibex House not far away between 10 and 11.30pm, or anyone with information, to call the incident room on 020-8785 8224, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555111.
