Queen Mary claim injury-time winner

UEL’s third team slipped to an injury-time loss against Queen Mary, who completed a double over the east London side in the process.

Moses Kaddu cancelled out a first-half header from Queen Mary with a cool finish, but UEL were beaten by a last-minute strike and now trail their rivals by six points, albeit with a game in hand.

East London were on the front foot from the off and almost grabbed a great goal as Kaddu had space on the edge of the box and hit a snap shot which clattered off the crossbar.

Queen Mary took the lead on 36 minutes after a dangerous whipped in free-kick was headed in against the run of play.

UEL responded and got their deserved equaliser six minutes later, as Brandon Manoka slotted in Kaddu with just the keeper to beat and he slipped the ball inside the far post.

The game continued in a similar vein in the second half, as UEL dominated play but lacked the final ball to take advantage.

UEL had a great chance to take the lead on the hour as Mo Mirza’s corner found Jamie Fray, but his bullet header was kept out by a superb save by the keeper.

UEL made their substitutions to bring on fresh legs and try and grab the all-important goal, but could not break the Queen Mary defence.

And due to UEL committing bodies forward they had a lack of numbers at the back as the match entered stoppage time, with Queen Mary working the ball out wide and stretching the defence to create a chance for a shot which evaded Julian Amaoko in the UEL goal.

UEL: Julian Amaoko, John Daly, Jamie Frey, Michael Osiguwa, Mo Mirza (Kane Taylor 75), Kieran Baldwin, Moses Kaddu, Shaun Edwards, Brandon Manoka, Sam Aggrey-Adams (John Silva 55), Olly Soulsby (Conor Denham 75).
